Thank you for keeping my family safe over past five weeks. They evacuated camp at Batemans Bay only to find fire threatened Gordon over past weeks. I know crews have worked seven days a week day and night.

A superb job done by all. From the professionals to the volunteers. From the most junior firefighter to the Commissioners of both fire services. Congrats.

Hero doesn't come close. Being part of a crew deliberately going into crazy dangerous firestorms, knowing exactly what you're doing, is astonishingly brave. To do it again and again is extraordinary.
